When I first started working with genealogy, I jumped right into it online. I read a statement shortly after I started, around mid-1997, that there were not very many online resources for genealogy. I was amazed at how untrue this statement was. The amount of resouces and information online is astounding! There is still an awful lot of stuff you must go to actual offline sources for, but you will be amazed at how much you can accomplish online.
